Rosemary McLeod
McRose Designs-Handcrafted Jewelry with an Artisan Spirit
Artist’s Statement:
Creating artistic expressions out of copper, brass, recycled materials, vintage
components and unusual beads continue to be the main outlet of my jewelry work.
Many times when starting a project the end results are surprising and fun. Metals
can go through many transformations when fired or a patina is applied. My style
is ever evolving and not static. I believe each one of us has an Artisan Spirit
waiting to be released. Which one is yours?
About the Artist:
Rosemary McLeod is a self-taught jewelry artisan. Starting in the summer of 2006,
as a favor from a friend, Rosemary took a class at a local craft store. Being
hooked on creating jewelry, Rosemary took more courses in cold connections, wirework,
metal fabrication, silver smithing and is PMC certified. In 2007, Rosemary, started
her business, McRose Designs, and has been a vendor at various local art festivals
and social events. Her work is currently displayed at the Spartanburg Library Gift Shop and LC Gallery in downtown
Greenville
across from the Westin Hotel.
The artist holds degrees from
Winthrop
University
,
Converse
College
and is a Fulbright Scholarship recipient. After years as a Special Education
Teacher and working as an Outreach Director at her Church, the pursuit of becoming
an artist has become a reality and a joy.
