Jerry Mann

As a boy I was raised in a mill town in northern Greenville County .  I grew up in a small two bedroom mill house with two other brothers.  I dropped out of high school and started working at the age of 15.  Realizing my mistake, I went to Greenville Tech and obtained my GED.  Shortly after that I joined the army.  During my 20-year service in the army I put myself through two years of college.  Around the 17 th year in the army I finally bought my first single lens reflex camera.  Since I’m self-taught it has been a lot of trial and error.  I mainly photograph landscapes and anything old and rustic.  Photography brings me so much peace.  It allows me to forget the evil I’ve seen in the world.  Being able to see something beautiful and capture it makes me feel good.
