“Painting for me is about observation of the world around me.  It is looking at the intrinsic values of light, color and form and seeing how they react together to bring beauty and meaning to an object.  It is carefully looking at the intricate details that cause things to appear as they do.  It is using paper, pigment and water to create a painting that captures that special moment in time when all those values combine in an object of beauty that touches the heart and soul of the viewer.”
Betsy Skipper is a realistic watercolor painter whose subjects matter ranges from architectural to floral, landscape, still life, and people.  She has taken workshops and classes under many watercolor artists and has exhibited in North Carolina , South Carolina , Virginia and England .   She currently lives in Union , SC where she teaches adult watercolor painting classes in her home studio.  She is a member of the Union County Arts Council, Artists Guild of Spartanburg and the South Carolina Water Media Society.
